A Chubb 3G114, a Union mortice sash lock and a Era mortice deadlock are ideal for home security.

A rim lock is one fitted to the back of the door and usually opened by a lever from the inside and key operation from the outside. Samples of this are shown in picture 1 and picture 2 above. This is a Yale 88 rim lock, a common household front door lock.
A mortice lock is a lock that is fitted into a slot in the edge of the door. Most insurance companies and the police now recommend a 5-lever mortice lock meeting British standard BS3621 is fitted to your main entrance and exit door. (This is soon to be amended with a new BS standard). Samples of this are shown in picture 3 above, a Chubb 3G114, a Union mortice sash lock and a Era mortice deadlock which are ideal for home security.
The locks in picture 4 and picture 5 above are used mainly on commercial properties. They are a Chubb 3G110 mortice dead lock and a Chubb 3R35 mortice latch lock.

Digital locks are becoming very popular in our working environment. Picture 4 immediately above is a Unican 1000 series, picture 5 is a Simplex NL200 and picture 6 is a Code lock.
